Five Latin American countries and Spain on Sunday warned against any attempt to “control” Venezuela from the outside, after US President Donald Trump suggested Washington could “manage” the country and access its oil resources.
Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay and Spain in a joint statement expressed their “rejection” of the removal of Nicolás Maduro from the post of President of Venezuela by US forces, as well as “concern about any attempt to externally govern the country, or to appropriate natural and strategic resources”.
