Anthony Joshua has been released from hospital two days after being injured in a car accident near Lagos, Nigeria, which killed two of his friends.
The former two-time world champion and 2012 Olympic champion was admitted to hospital with minor injuries after Monday’s accident that killed Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, and Lagos City Government spokesman Gbenga Omotoso announced that he was released for home care on Wednesday night.
– Anthony and his mother were at the burial in Lagos – he added.
Trainer Ayodele and fitness trainer Ghami died just hours after Joshua played table tennis with Ayodele on a planned week-long vacation.
The circumstances of the accident are still being investigated, and again there is a strong focus on road safety in Nigeria. Namely, there were 5,421 deaths on that highway in 9,570 accidents in 2024, 340 more victims than in 2023.
