US House Speaker Mike Johnson said on Wednesday that he had not heard of any discussion about sending the military to Greenland, after President Donald Trump refused to rule out the possibility of using force to retake the island from ally Denmark.
– I don’t think anyone is considering the use of military force in Greenland. It is being looked at through diplomatic channels – said Johnson, who previously admitted that he was not informed in advance about Trump’s military incursion into Venezuela.
Recently, Trump has restarted the discussion about Greenland, a strategically important Arctic island that is an autonomous region of Denmark, and the US administration has not ruled out the possibility of using military force as an option, which has provoked criticism from European allies and NATO officials.
