An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale hit Italy overnight, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center announced.
The epicenter of the earthquake was in the open sea, at a depth of 375 kilometers and a distance of 43 kilometers from Naples.
According to eyewitness reports published on the EMSC website, the earthquake was felt in several European countries.
Eyewitnesses say that the earthquake was felt in Zadar, Malta, Tetovo, the south of Serbia, Lugano in Switzerland and even in Slovakia.
For now, there are no reports of injuries or material damage, reports Corriere della Sera.
No tsunami warning has been issued.
