The last ten years in the Federation of BiH, 13 percent fewer children were born than in the previous decade, says Minister Delic
The Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of the FBiH and UNFPA – the United Nations population fund officially presented the draft demographic recovery and development strategy and the development of the Federation of BiH for the period 2024-2031.
As said, the strategy is comprehensive, multisectoral and responds to increasingly dynamic demographic changes. It is focused on long-term sustainable socio-economic development, putting emphasis on the quality of human capital, not just the population.
The strategy recognizes that for every family who wants to achieve the desired number of children, it is necessary to create a society in which children and older people will be easily accessible and accessible.
– Data are relentless. In the last ten years in the Federation of BiH, 13 percent fewer children were born than in the previous decade. Almost 95 percent of municipalities and cities recorded a negative natural increase. In some cantons, such as Posavina and Canton 10, the vital index falls below 30, which means that only one birth child comes on the three deaths. We no longer talk about demographic trends, we are talking about the economic and social breakdown, the Federal Minister of Labor and Social Policy of Adnan Delic pointed out.
A representative of UNFPA Justine Coulson assessed that cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy showed how important it is to create evidence-based policies, writes Liberation.
– Through global lessons and local knowledge, we have developed a strategy that not only respond to current demographic challenges but also sets the foundations for the prosperous future of the FBiH citizen, culson said.
