One of the protesters openly criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for, as he stated, starting conflicts that he believed were unnecessary.
“We are fed up with fascism, we are fed up with corruption, we are fed up with endless wars and we are definitely fed up with this government,” said the protester, expressing the frustration of part of the public with the long-term conflicts and political situation in the country.
The interlocutor also assessed that Israel is an “overly militarized” state, adding that earlier wars were often forced by circumstances, but that in recent years conflicts have been entered into by choice.
“In the past, we were forced to enter into wars. For the last three years, we have witnessed one election war after another. We are trying to solve everything with military force. That cannot work,” he said.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will face general elections in Israel in October, which could further increase political tensions and open up space for discussion on the direction of the country’s security and foreign policy, reports Index.hr.
