Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government has not officially announced the establishment of 34 new settlements, many of which are outposts in remote areas of the mountainous territory, the watchdog group Peace Now reported.
The decision, which was made by the Israeli cabinet on April 1, was extensively reported on Thursday by the Israeli media, which stated that the Israeli military censor had approved it for publication.
The Palestinian presidency’s office condemned the plan as a “flagrant violation of international law.”
Netanyahu’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Ješa Council, the body representing West Bank settlers, also did not immediately respond to a request for comment, Reuters reports.
