Iranian President: American demands are unrealistic and unenforceable

In the statements carried by the Iranian media, Pezeshkian pointed out that Washington, on the one hand, implements a policy of maximum pressure, while on the other, it expects Tehran to sit down at the negotiating table and accept unilateral conditions.

“The problem is that the United States simultaneously implements a policy of maximum pressure against our country, and expects the Islamic Republic of Iran to agree to their unilateral demands. Such an equation is unrealistic and impossible,” he said.

He also added that during the negotiations the USA carried out attacks on Iran on two occasions, evaluating the recent statements from Washington as a form of “military mobilization and threats”.

Pezeshkian reiterated Tehran’s position that Iran is ready to negotiate, but only under appropriate conditions. Among them, according to earlier messages from Iranian officials, stands out the request to lift the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz before the start of serious negotiations.

Previous attempts at direct talks have not led to a permanent end to the conflict, and currently neither Washington nor Tehran show a willingness to compromise their positions.
