Turkey’s Defense Ministry said a second ballistic missile launched from Iran was destroyed by NATO air and missile defense systems after it entered Turkish airspace.
The statement said that parts of the rocket fell on empty land in the southern city of Gaziantep, but that there were no injuries or material damage, the BBC reports.
Last week, the Turkish Defense Ministry also announced that an Iranian missile, which was aimed at Turkish airspace, was intercepted and destroyed by NATO defense systems.
An explosion in Doha as well
The explosion was also heard in the capital of Qatar, Doha, according to news agencies Agence France-Presse and Reuters.
The Ministry of Defense of Qatar announced that the armed forces intercepted a missile attack aimed at the country.
