The Iranian military said its “fingers are on the trigger” due to repeated “violations of trust” by the US and Israel, the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Command announced, according to the Tasnim news agency.
The military body added that Iran will not give up the Strait of Hormuz, over which it has taken control.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said that negotiations with the United States cannot begin until two key conditions are met, a ceasefire in Lebanon and the release of frozen Iranian assets.
“Two measures mutually agreed upon by the parties have not yet been implemented, a ceasefire in Lebanon and the release of blocked Iranian assets before the start of negotiations,” Ghalibaf wrote in a post on Xu.
“Those two issues must be met before negotiations can begin.”
