The law is “prohibited maintenance of gatherings that would violate the law” from 2021, according to which it is not allowed among minors to promote “homosexuality and gender change.” The authorities are by law allow the use of software to identify participants in potential sets of LGBTQ communities.
It was adopted with 136 representative votes that were “for” and only 27 votes against. The law supported and Orban’s party Fides, as well as democrats who are its minority coalition partner. It was adopted by accelerated procedure, after only the day was submitted.
It envisages that the participation in the pride parade is punishable with up to 500 euros, which the state must apply to child protection.
The Pride Parade Organizers in Budapest announced yesterday that they believe that the purpose of this law is to make the LGBTQ community “Sacrificial Lamb in order to silence votes that are critical to Orban’s government.”
