The demands include a permanent cessation of all forms of hostilities on the territory of Lebanon, including air, land and sea operations, then the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the occupied territories to internationally recognized borders, the release of prisoners and the return of the population to border villages and towns.
He mentioned the reconstruction of the country with the support of Arab and international partners, but with the responsibility of the state itself, as an important element.
Qassem strongly criticized the cease-fire document released by the State Department at the start of a 10-day pause in the fighting, saying that although it was signed by the Israeli and Lebanese governments, it had “no practical value” and was an insult to Lebanon.
He added that Hezbollah, an organization supported by Iran, is ready for the “highest level of cooperation” with the Lebanese authorities and wants to open a new chapter. However, he emphasized that the truce must mean a complete cessation of all hostile activities.
“Since we do not trust this enemy, resistance fighters will remain on the ground with their finger on the trigger and will respond to any violation proportionately,” he said.
He also emphasized that the truce cannot be unilateral, but must be respected by both sides in order to have a real effect and ensure stability in the region.
