The Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zukan Helez said in Washington that the participation of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the international security mission in Gaza is in an advanced stage of preparation and that more than 60 members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina could participate in that mission, his office announced on Friday.
During his official visit to the United States of America, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Minister of Defense Zukan Helez met in Washington with State Department representative Stanley Brown, where they discussed the strengthening of bilateral military cooperation, the modernization of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and possible investments in the dedicated industry of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Helez particularly emphasized the issue of the participation of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in international operations, including a potential mission in Gaza.
– We also discussed the participation of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the security mission in Gaza. Preparations for that mission are in an advanced stage, we expect that more than 60 members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be part of the mission. This represents a significant contribution of our country to international peace and security – Helez said.
At the meeting, according to a statement from the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the interest of the USA in further strengthening cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina was confirmed, as well as the possibility of investing in the domestic defense industry, with the goal of modernization and harmonization with NATO standards.
They also discussed increasing the scope of joint activities between the armed forces of the two countries, as well as continuing modernization and strengthening the defense budget, it says. Avaz.
