Social care institutions and health care DRIN Fojnica is one of the leading social protection institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, specializing in caring for people with disabilities and mental diseases.
Located in Fojnica, this institution is currently providing a home for about 488 users, with the support of a team of 250 employees involving carers, medical staff, therapists, social workers and technical staff.
Equipped with modern capacities, such as housing, house, medical and rehabilitation centers, sports fields, is committed to improving the quality of life of their beneficiaries through basic health and social protection, but also educational, cultural and sports activities aimed at society.
Key projects

“The construction of the occupier’s rest and recreation facility is planned,” emphasizes the director, pointing out the importance of such initiatives for the development and preservation of the user’s ability.
In order to address the lack of staff, the institution organizes the days of open doors from 14. to 18. April for the students of the final grade of medical and related schools from Fojnica and Kiseljak.
“We sent a call to the school administrations and offered cooperation. Our goal is to know students with our work and planned activities to interest future young staff to opt for working work in our institution,” says Halilović.
Participation in world winter games
Recently, the institution organized a reception for the representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina who participated in the world’s winter games in Turin. The three users of the institution returned with medals – gold, silver and bronze, which, according to the director, great success.

Activities and recognizability
The Drin institution has been implementing numerous activities for years, but Director Halilović admits that there are challenges.
“What is the problem today is their funding and maintaining the continuity of the same. Increasing prices, the space deficit as well as the staff deficit are first weaknesses.”
However, he emphasizes that the institution has great support of donors and financiers, which has also proved during last year’s floods when humanitarian organizations and volunteers quickly provided assistance.
“I don’t know that we were involved in the media and public space and in the purpose of informing the public. We currently have a page drin.ba and the FB profile of Drin Fojnica institutions that we plan to edit and professionalize,” says the director.
Director Halilović points out excellent cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Policy.
“Our line ministry is our right hand. At the end of last year, we received funds for capital investments, completion of the stage of the roar and the procurement of the medical vehicle and the vans.
“Also, the institution is working to strengthen the financial stability by applying the grants and donations, we are the opinion that the Government of the Federation of BiH will make a decision to ensure the regular current transfers or subsidizing part of the service price,” Added Halilović. “
Work systemization and future
The institution plans to reorganize work by adopting a new Rulebook on the work and systematization of jobs.
“We plan to sign the collective agreement, the development and correction of the Rules of Procedure as well as the systematization of employment sites, the public procurement officer, and the Director said, with the union to improve employee conditions.
Like a new director, dr. Halilović emphasizes that he will work on the improvement of the institution both in medical terms, ensuring better health care and rehabilitation of users, as well as in the IT sense, the modernization of the system and digitization of the process within the institution.
