He talked about that with the German Foreign Affairs Minister Johann WadePhul during the meeting in Kiev, said Green Journalists on Monday, DPA reports.
At the beginning of his first visit to Kiev, since he took the term of office in May, Wadephul visited the position of the IRIS-T’s antiest defense system, which plays a key role in Ukrainian distracting Russian attacks.
By April, Germany sent six such systems to Ukraine and promised an additional 10.
Wadephula followed the senior representatives of German defense companies on this sudden path to Kiev.
During the meeting with WadePhul, he expressed interest in the expansion of defense cooperation between the two countries. He mentioned that 20 new cooperation could be arranged in the coming days, although he did not reveal other details.
The German Foreign Minister described it as a winning situation because German defense companies are already operating in Ukraine, while Ukrainian companies also operate in Germany.
“We learn from this. Both sides benefit and show that our safety is intertwined, and that we can also economically profit from this. It is a good thing we want to expand,” WadePhul added.
