The ministry said it was in close contact with the embassy in Caracas and that a travel warning had been issued.
Their message echoed the statements of the top diplomat of the European Union, Kaja Kallas, who also repeatedly said that Maduro “lacks legitimacy”, and the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who demanded respect for international law.
German politicians and commentators took mixed views on Saturday, with some welcoming Maduro’s ouster and others condemning what they called an abandonment of the post-1945 Western world’s rules-based order.
