Doctors say the airstrike targeted a group of people on Jaffa Street, near Darraj neighborhood in Gaza City, killing four people and injuring others.
The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the incident.
The Palestinian group Hamas and Israel have traded accusations of violating a truce agreed last October that halted the two-year war. Gaza’s health ministry says Israeli fire has killed at least 700 people since the ceasefire began. Israel says that during the same period, militants in Gaza killed four soldiers.
A Hamas delegation met in Cairo last week with Egyptian, Qatari and Turkish mediators to give their first response to a disarmament proposal presented to the group last month, two Egyptian sources and a Palestinian official said.
The group told mediators it would not discuss giving up arms without assurances that Israel would leave Gaza entirely, as outlined in US President Donald Trump’s “Committee for Peace” disarmament plan, three sources told Reuters on Thursday.
The disarmament of Hamas is a stumbling block in negotiations to implement Trump’s plan for the Palestinian enclave and cement a ceasefire.
Hamas attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023 killed 1,200 people, according to Israeli data. Israel’s ensuing two-year campaign killed more than 72,000 Palestinians, most of them civilians, according to Gaza health authorities, and spread famine, demolished most buildings and displaced most of the territory’s population, in many cases multiple times.
