Five children injured in an explosion while camping

After the explosion, which happened last night, the police inspected a neighboring fire pit and found another object with explosives, which they also described as a “relic of war”.

The bomb disposal unit was called to deal with explosive items, reports Srna.

“An investigation is underway to determine how the war relics ended up under the campfire,” the police statement stated.

The accident happened in the area of ​​the village of Sankt Oswald near Freistadt, where organized youth groups often camp. The children were part of a group that came from another part of the same province of Upper Austria.

Although bombs from the Second World War are still being discovered in Austria, especially during excavations for construction work, accidents like these are rare.
