Ministers and senior officials from 70 countries, industrial leaders and representatives of international organizations have gathered in Istanbul on a two-day Global Forum on Transport Control, which was organized by the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized that Turkey positioned as a geostrategic center of stability, and emphasized the importance of secure logistics directions, especially in the light of regional tensions and changes in global routes.
“The road is civilization,” Erdoğan said, emphasizing that Turkey has invested about $ 300 billion in the traffic and communication infrastructure in the past 22 years. They linked 77 out of the 81 provinces to modern highways, expanded the railway network, increased the number of airports to 58, and Istanbul airport knocked down a record with 32 million passengers in the first five months of 2025.
Erdoğan especially highlighted the Development Road (Development Road) project, which will enable the goods from the Iraqi Luka Faw to come to Europe through Turkey. The project is expected to generate more than 50 billion dollars of production performance and an average of 63,000 jobs a year.
He also spoke about the Middle Corridor, which connects Turkey with China through Caucasus, Caspian Sea and Central Asia. The expected production effect of that corridor is 114 billion dollars and 144,000 jobs a year.
