Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday reaffirmed Ankara’s full support for the sovereignty and security of the UAE in a telephone conversation with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan amid regional tensions.
Erdogan expressed his wishes for a quick recovery from the damage caused by the regional conflict, and the two leaders discussed bilateral relations, as well as regional and global developments, the Turkish Communications Directorate said on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal, Anadolia reports.
During the call, Erdogan said that Turkey attaches importance to strengthening bilateral cooperation with the UAE in several areas, especially in trade, energy and security.
Speaking about the conflict between the US and Iran, Erdogan described the events in the region as regrettable and said that Turkey is continuing diplomatic contacts with relevant countries to help establish a diplomatic solution between Washington and Tehran.
He also emphasized that greater dialogue and cooperation is needed in order to solve security challenges in the region, according to the Directorate.
