The reputable English portal GOAL published an extensive analysis of BiH. national team player Kerim Alajbegović, whom he ranks among the most promising young footballers before the World Cup.
The text states that the representative era of Edin Džeka is slowly coming to an end, but that Bosnia and Herzegovina already has a player who could take over the role of one of the main players of the national team in the future.
According to the author, the fact that Džeko and Alajbegović will together represent Bosnia and Herzegovina at the World Cup represents special symbolism.
“Džeko is nearing the end of his national team career, while Bosnia and Herzegovina already has a new potential star who should lead the next generation. Kerim Alajbegović was not even born when Džeko made his debut for the national team, and now together they will carry the hopes of their country at the world’s biggest football show,” says GOAL.
The English portal reminds that Alajbegović was born in Cologne, while his parents are from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The text also highlights the role of his father Semin Alajbegović, a former soccer player who today works as a soccer agent.
A significant part of the analysis is devoted to his development and transfer from the youth unit of Bayer Leverkusen to Salzburg. According to GOAL, the Austrian club was among the first to recognize the potential of the young BiH representative.
“Alajbegović moved to Salzburg for only two million euros and very quickly showed that he is a player of enormous potential,” writes GOAL, recalling that after his notable performances, Bayer decided to activate the buyout clause and return him to their ranks.
Behind Alajbegović is a successful season in the Salzburg jersey, during which he scored 13 goals and registered four assists. Such games earned him recognition as the best young debutant in the Austrian Bundesliga.
The portal singles out his contribution to the placement of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the World Cup. Among the key moments are the assist against Wales, as well as the penalty kicks against Wales and Italy in the play-off for the World Cup.

Although Alajbegović previously said that Lionel Messi is his football role model, the authors of the text believe that his style of play most resembles Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
