Today, September 16, the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the proposal of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, adopted the Decision on determining the annual quota of work permits for the employment of foreigners in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the year 2026.
By adopting this decision, the needs of the labor market are better met without jeopardizing the domestic labor force, and it contributes to the reduction of illegal work by foreign nationals.
The total annual quota of work permits for extension and new employment is 7,427 work permits, of which 4,500 pertain to the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2,000 to the RS and 927 to the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The number of work permits that can be issued to extend already issued work permits is 2,350 (Federation of BiH 1,500, Republika Srpska 500 and Brčko District of BiH 350), while 5,077 work permits can be issued for new employment of foreigners (Federation of BiH 3,000, Republika Srpska 1,500 and Brčko District of BiH 577 work permits).
At most, 1,760 work permits are intended for construction activities, 1,060 of them for the processing industry, while 560 work permits were approved for the hotel and catering industry for the provision of accommodation, food preparation and serving services, writes NOISE.
The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina determines the annual quota of work permits in accordance with the migration policy, and taking into account the state of the labor market, it was announced after today’s session.
