The United Arab Emirates expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia on Friday for its efforts to bring peace to neighboring Yemen.
– The UAE welcomes the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting security and stability in Yemen – the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
The statement added that the UAE appreciates Saudi Arabia’s role in “promoting the interests of the Yemeni people and realizing their legitimate aspirations for stability and prosperity.”
On Thursday, Riyadh condemned the military action by the Southern Transitional Council (STC), a group linked to the central government, in the provinces of Hadramaut and al-Mahra, warning that it could lead to an “unwarranted escalation”. Saudi Arabia emphasized the priority of preserving unity and emphasized that it is making every effort to find peaceful solutions in those provinces.
Seventeen Yemeni political parties and other actors also praised Saudi Arabia’s firm stance on the southern issue, describing it as a just cause with historical and social dimensions, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
In a joint statement, published by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), the parties welcomed the statement by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs calling for the restoration of stability in the provinces of Hadramaut and al-Mahra.
