The best BH marathon runner, Emir Hastor from Goražda is making final preparations before the first major competition of the year, the Rome Marathon, which awaits him on March 22.
This excellent athlete is in good shape, and the goal is to run a time under 2 hours and 20 minutes.
– It is the first big competition for me this year. The preparations went better than we expected and we had a test about 15 days ago at the half-marathon in Jablanica, where I convincingly won and achieved a good time, which certainly leads me to a good result in Rome. In these remaining days there is preparation of the head and the trip to Rome on Thursday – said Hastor.
Hastor will use the remaining time before going to Rome to analyze the route, which, as he states, has its advantages and disadvantages.
– We know the path, how many hills and how many downhills there are. There will be 36,000 competitors at the start in Rome and I hope to achieve my best personal time and the best possible result in order to present my club, city, canton and country in the best possible way – Hastor is optimistic.
He has a competitive year ahead of him with many challenges, and a few days ago he received a confirmation of his participation in the New York marathon at the beginning of autumn.
– I received official confirmation from the organizer and on November 1st I will run the marathon in New York, which is a big deal. I must mention that there will be 50,000 to 60,000 runners in that city at the start. I have a norm for the marathon in New York, and only 5,000 to 10,000 runners with a norm enter that marathon, and the rest go to the so-called lottery in which this year there were slightly more than 700,000 registrations for the marathon. It’s really a great honor when you have the norm for such an event and the organizer approves you to meet at the start immediately after registration – explained Hastor.
The start of the Rome Marathon is planned for March 22 at 8 am.
