The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) announced the Frenchman Francois Letexier as the football referee of the year.
During 2024, Letexier was entrusted with prestigious matches, including the final of the European Championship between England and Spain, as well as important matches of the Champions League.
The Frenchman had 129 points, followed by Slavko Vinčić (Slovenia), Daniele Orsato (Italy), Clement Turpin (France), Michael Oliver (England), Felix Zwayer (Germany), Szymon Marciniak (Poland), Anthony Taylor ( England), Raphael Claus (Brazil), Wilton Sampaio (Brazil).
Letexier ended the dominance of Marciniak, who won the award two years in a row.
IFFHS has been awarding the referee of the year award since 1987.
