The President of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Jorge Rodriguez, has announced that the main focus of his work in the coming days will be to find a way for former President Nicolas Maduro, who is currently in custody in the United States, to “return” to the country.
“My main function in the coming days, as president of this National Assembly, will be to use all the procedures, all the platforms and all the possible ways to bring back Nicolas Maduro Moros, my brother, my president,” said Rodriguez, addressing the deputies.
At the same time, Delcy Rodriguez was officially sworn in as Venezuela’s interim president, after Maduro was arrested and extradited to the US.
Delcy Rodriguez, a 56-year-old lawyer specializing in labor law known for her close ties to the private sector and loyalty to the ruling party, was sworn in before her brother Jorge, who heads the country’s legislature.
