Consumer Supplies (CCC) Foundation (CCC) and consumer associations called on the Wednesday citizens who suffered damage to them from such booking practice.
Booking.com has been charging for over-size prices for hotel rooms, which caused Dutch consumers from “several hundred million euros”, the Associations claim.
“Our research showed that Booking.com violates the regulations on the market competition and consumer protection since January 2013. years,” said the president of the CCC Bert Heikens.
Booking.com did not immediately answer the Reuters’ query to comment on the allegations of consumer associations.
The hotels are often undertaken in contracts with Internet platforms to book the accommodation that on their own websites and on those competing platforms will not offer lower prices, accepting the principle of price parity.
The European Law on Digital Markets prohibits the capital platforms on the contractual provisions on the price ‘parity’ (ECJ) last year that Booking.com Contracting price threshold for hotel accommodation potentially limits competition.
The price parity is also not key to Booking.Com economic sustainability, they warned the judges, but it is still not a violation of the regulations on the competition.
