After an argument and physical conflict, a 28-year-old Brazilian injured his 31-year-old partner, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a sharp object. Both foreign citizens do not have a regulated stay in Croatia, the Zagreb police reported.
The incident happened yesterday around 8:30 am in an apartment in Ulica Ferda Livadića. According to the police, the physical confrontation between the two intimate partners was preceded by a verbal conflict, after which the Brazilian injured the BiH citizen with a sharp object.
The injured man was provided with medical assistance at the Zagreb Clinical Hospital Center, where he was diagnosed with minor physical injuries.
Police officers arrested a 28-year-old man at the scene and detained him for criminal investigation on suspicion of committing the crime of aggravated attempted murder of a loved one. After the investigation was completed, the suspect was handed over to the custody supervisor, and a criminal complaint was filed with the competent state attorney.
The representative of the tenants of the building, Zlatko Špoljar, told Index yesterday that the tenants heard a loud noise, after which someone called the police. By the time he descended into the basement of the building, the emergency services were already on the scene.
According to him, the suspect did not try to escape after the attack, but stayed in the apartment.
“I stood next to him until the police arrived. He seemed distracted, but he was not violent towards anyone,” Špoljar said. He added that it was a basement apartment of about forty square meters that had been recently decorated, and that it was possible that the two men had just arrived.
“I saw them for the first time yesterday. We greeted each other normally,” said the tenant’s representative.
