US President Donald Trump spent today at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, where he is participating in a cryptocurrency conference, but at the same time he is very active in communicating with the media regarding the cancellation of the diplomatic mission to Pakistan.
According to reports from reporters covering the president, Trump sent a short but clear message to a female correspondent based in Islamabad: “Come home!!!”
The message was sent to New York Post reporter Caitlin Doornbos, who was supposed to be in Pakistan following the negotiations between the American envoys and the Iranian delegation.
The move is being interpreted as the definitive end to any hope that the canceled Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner trip could be reactivated in the coming days, Index reports.
Trump was busy throughout the day making phone calls to various media outlets, confirming his decision to withdraw the envoys. His position is firm – America will no longer waste resources on diplomacy that does not bring immediate results.

Trump clarified that he doesn’t see the point in an 18-hour flight just to “discuss nothing.” He cited the chaos within the Iranian leadership as the main reason.
Let us recall that Trump claims that there is complete confusion in Tehran after Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed in Operation Epic Rage. His son and successor, Mojtaba Khamenei, is reportedly seriously wounded and has not been seen in public for weeks. “No one there knows who is in charge, not even themselves,” said Trump, noting that the US holds “all the cards in its hands.”
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi left Islamabad today and traveled to Oman.
End of hope for a quick diplomatic breakthrough
The fact that Trump is personally telling reporters to return from Pakistan suggests that the White House has completely given up on Islamabad’s mediation. Although a fragile truce is in place, Trump’s tactics now boil down to a wait-and-see policy while the Iranian regime tries to consolidate.
Trump should board Air Force One in the coming hours, when his first direct statements to the press about further steps in the conflict with Iran are expected.
