The protests were organized by civilian groups and families of the victims, who demanded accountability for political and military decisions they claim have led to the failure since October 2023, when nearly 1,200 Israelis were killed and 250 kidnapped and taken to the Gaza Strip.
In Jerusalem, police forcibly dispersed some protesters after they refused to obey evacuation orders, the newspaper said.

The participants rejected what they described as an evasion of responsibility by the leadership, calling for the establishment of an independent state commission to investigate the failures and hold those responsible to account.
Israeli political, security and military officials described the handling of the October 7 attack as a failure, with several resigning and admitting partial responsibility.
After the attack, Israel launched a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, killing more than 72,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, and destroying 90 percent of the enclave’s infrastructure, with reconstruction costs estimated by the United Nations at around $70 billion.
