CIA: Iran can withstand a naval blockade for months

According to a CIA analysis, Iran will not feel serious economic pressure due to the US blockade of its ports until the end of the summer.

The assessment, first reported by The Washington Post, suggests that US pressure on Tehran is limited as negotiations to end the conflict continue.

On April 13, the United States imposed a naval blockade of Iranian ports after talks between the two countries to end the war, which followed the April 7 ceasefire, broke down.

The goal of the blockade was to put pressure on Iran to end the de facto blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s attacks on ships in that key sea passage have caused major disruptions in the global economy, restricting the flow of oil and other raw materials.

Washington is now waiting for Tehran’s response to the American proposal that would formally end the war.
