According to church tradition, Christmas Eve is a holy evening when believers gather in homes, bless the home and eat Christmas dinner. After that, many will go to the midnight church, where they will welcome the birth of Jesus.

In the past, people used to get up early on Christmas Eve, women prepared Christmas dinner, and during the day there was a complete fast that lasted until the evening hours.
The custom of fasting has been preserved to some extent, and on Christmas Eve they usually eat fish and other dishes that do not contain meat and dairy products. Of all the customs, the one of decorating the pine tree, which many families bring into the house on Christmas Eve itself, has survived the most.
“Welcome to you on Christmas Day and Praise Jesus, I congratulate you on Christmas Eve, Adam and Eve”, are the traditional greetings and congratulations that people sent to each other on this day.
