Bulj said that as mayor he could not allow an unorganized and unannounced performance in the very heart of Sinj, in front of the Basilica of the Miraculous Lady of Sinj, during a pre-planned pre-Christmas program. He emphasized that the concert, as he says, had nothing to do with Christmas Day, neither in content nor in spirit.

“According to the writings of part of the Croatian media, or rather the media from Croatia, as the elected mayor I should have allowed a group of Roma trumpeters to invade the center of the Dalmatian city of Sinj, the heart of the proud, historically and spiritually always Christian Cetinje region, without any permission, without an announced performance and without any fitting into the official program, and interfere with the pre-Christmas program already planned and prepared in advance.
I guess I should have kept quiet and not reacted to a concert that has nothing to do with Christmas Day, neither in song, nor in spirit, nor in performance, in front of the Basilica of the Miraculous Lady of Sinj, a place of special religious significance for this city and the entire surrounding area. I remind you: during the holiday period, many European cities clearly arrange the program in public spaces.
