The EU is seeking reforms, BiH is the only one without funds from the Growth Plan
The political deadlock in the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina again had direct consequences, as another session of the House of Peoples was interrupted due to the lack of a quorum, which left important laws unadopted.
Speaker of the House of Peoples, Kemal Ademović, assessed that it was a continuous blockade of work, given that the SNSD and HDZ delegates did not attend the session again.
On the agenda were proposals to amend the Law on the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Law on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council, which are crucial for the progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the European path.
While trying to hold a session in the hall, some members of the Collegium gave statements to the media in the corridors, which further illustrates the political crisis and division within the institutions.
At the same time, a warning came from Brussels that further aggravates the situation. The European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, sent a letter to the countries of the Western Balkans, stressing that they could lose significant funds from the European Union’s Growth Plan due to failure to fulfill their reform obligations.
According to available information, five countries of the region have already received part of the funds, while Bosnia and Herzegovina is still behind due to the failure to adopt the reform agenda.
If the current deadlock continues, Bosnia and Herzegovina could be left without an additional 750 million convertible marks, which represents a serious financial blow and an additional warning of the consequences of political blockades, it says. NOISE.
