FIFA president Gianni Infantino has once again become the subject of debate on social media after a video of his clumsy corner kick resurfaced and quickly went viral.
Infantino, who is often present at major football events in VIP boxes and ceremonies, this time stood behind the ball during a pre-tournament friendly. However, instead of a cross into the penalty area, the ball went straight forward and ended up outside the field, which caused numerous comments and jokes on the Internet.
The video shows Infantino, who was wearing the captain’s armband at the time, trying to take a corner, but the shot looks more like an inaccurate cross than an intended break.

Although the situation did not have serious consequences, the video quickly went viral, and users of social networks did not spare criticism and sarcastic comments.
– Just as bad as you expected – one user wrote, while another added that “he shouldn’t have any role in football if he doesn’t know the basics”.
Some went a step further, questioning his competence in leading the world football organization.
The video also reopened a wider discussion about FIFA and its president, especially ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
The tournament will be expanded to 48 national teams and 104 matches, which has already drawn criticism for ticket prices, organization and access to fans.
Infantino has previously faced criticism in public due to his close political ties and decisions regarding the commercialization of the competition.
However, despite the off-field controversies, expectations for the tournament itself remain high, and the focus, as many fans point out, should return to football when the championship begins.
