British media: Starmer resigns

The Prime Minister of Great Britain, Keir Starmer, will leave his position, because he made such a decision independently, according to the British Daily Mail, citing unnamed sources in the British government.

“Starmer has told close friends he intends to step down as Prime Minister,” according to the Daily Mail article.

According to the unnamed interlocutor of the British daily, the prime minister understands the political situation that has arisen in the country and wants to leave his position with dignity, but it is not yet clear when exactly that decision will be announced.

In May, almost a hundred MPs called on Prime Minister Starmer to resign after Labour’s defeat in the local elections.

Several government officials resigned in protest, including Health Minister Wes Streeting, who is seen as Starmer’s key rival.

As previously reported by the Daily Telegraph, the mayor of Manchester Andy Burnham, who is also considered an opponent of the current leader of the Labor Party, intends to run for parliament, which will enable him to fight for the position of prime minister.
