Four bodies were found in an open-pit coal mine in Russia’s Magadan region, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations announced.
An accident is believed to have occurred earlier this week when a mudflow caused rockfall in the pit. Rescuers, doctors and investigators were sent to the scene.
“The bodies of four people were found during search and rescue operations in the Susumanski district of the city. According to preliminary information, up to eight people may be trapped under the rubble,” the statement said.
The Ministry adds that rescuers are working on the spot day and night and that the families of the victims are receiving help, reports Srna.
