BiH’s foreign exchange reserves continued to grow at the end of 2025, according to the latest data published by the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
These indicators come in a period of marked global economic uncertainty and confirm the strengthening of the state’s financial position.
Growth of foreign exchange reserves and net foreign assets
According to official information, the foreign exchange reserves of Bosnia and Herzegovina amounted to 18.28 billion KM on November 30, 2025, which represents an increase of 643 million KM compared to the same period of the previous year.
At the same time, the growth of net foreign assets was recorded, which reached 1.65 billion KM, i.e. 283 million KM more than in 2024.
These data indicate a stable inflow of funds and a strong position of the monetary system, which manages to maintain resilience despite complex movements in the international financial markets.
Gold as an increasingly important pillar of stability
Of particular note is the growth of monetary gold, whose reserves increased to 3.5 tons in 2025, which is the highest level since the establishment of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The value of gold reserves is estimated at around 799 million KM, which means that gold plays an increasingly important role in preserving the country’s monetary and financial stability.
During the same year, the coverage ratio of the currency board also increased, which at the end of November was 109.9 percent. This means that all monetary obligations are fully covered by foreign exchange reserves, with an additional margin of safety.
Record profit and strengthening of the Bank’s capital
In the same period, the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina achieved a strong financial result. The net profit on November 30, 2025 was 289.77 million KM, which exceeded the planned annual amount of 276 million KM.
Net interest income reached 320 million KM, while the Bank’s capital and reserves increased to 1.72 billion KM, which is 528 million KM more than the year before.
These indicators, as reported by Forbes, confirm the strong profitability of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the growing role of gold as a key mechanism for protecting the country’s monetary system, writes RTV Slon.
