Unlike the last match against Montenegro played in August last year in Goražde, coach Danilo Pejović has a rejuvenated squad in the roster that will try to respond to the tasks of the European League in the best way possible and reach the European Championship in 2028.
Seven days of training are behind the members of the national team and they are slowly getting into the competitive system, and coach Pejović promises a good game.
– Last summer it was beautiful in Goražde, preparing and then playing the game in that wonderful environment against Montenegro. In last year’s cycle, we rejuvenated the team, a new team came, new energy, girls who in 2005/2006. the age before which the future in the national team lies. This year we are starting a new cycle with the European League, it is a new CEV competition that includes all the countries that do not participate in the WNL, the main competition of the world volleyball organization – explains Pejović.
He believes that the women’s volleyball team of Bosnia and Herzegovina can achieve its primary goal and qualify for the European Championship.
– Through the competition that is played this year and next year, we collect points that, I hope, will take us to the European Championship in 2028, and that is the main goal of this generation. We are here to work, we have youth, motivation and desire. Every game we have this summer and next is important and I am sure that, with some good work and quality not only in the national team but also in the clubs from which these girls come, we can reach that ultimate goal. We are going step by step, we are in the first week, we are slowly introducing ourselves and we hope that we will reach the desired form and that we will be right when the games come – announces Pejović.
She is looking forward to a new meeting with the audience from Goraždan and promises the maximum effort of the girls on the floor of the city hall “Mirsad Hurić” on the first weekend in June, when BiH. the representation welcomes the selections of Spain and Kosovo.
– We played the last game in Goražde in some spasm, under pressure, even though we did not have a result imperative. Somewhere we got burnt out with a great desire and we owe it to this audience to play the best matches possible this summer. I have been in the national team, as an assistant coach and as a selector, for five years, and we really haven’t had this environment many times in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We feel the need to show that we can do it better. We are playing the tournament in Goražde against the Spanish national team, which is also on the CEV list above us, they took part in the world championship last year, the second game is against Kosovo and I hope that we will show a much better game than last year and enjoy the support that the audience in Goražde gives us – emphasizes the coach of the women’s volleyball team of BiH.
The standard member of the BiH national team, Dragana Stevanović, also believes in the success of her team.
– We are grateful to the Goraždan club and the city, which always provide us with good preparations. They are realized with super energy, the team is much rejuvenated and we hope to give a much better result than last year. We start here in June against two teams and I think we will provide adequate resistance to both teams and we hope for victories – said Stevanović.
After the first tournament in Goražde, the women’s volleyball team of BiH will go to Sweden on the second weekend of June, where they will play against the winner of the preliminary round of the competition in addition to the host. The third tournament will be played in Georgia, where they will first play against the hosts, and a day later against the Slovak national team.
The men’s volleyball team of BiH is also in Goražde for preparations, which will also take part in the CEV tournaments of the European League in June. Next month, volleyball fans will be able to see the best volleyball players from Spain, Switzerland, Croatia, the Netherlands and the Kosovo national team in the city on the Drina.
According to the new rules, the European League is also a qualifying competition for the European Championship, and the first part of the competition will be played as a tournament in three competition weekends.
