A source from the Lebanese judiciary stated that it is suspected that the Israeli intelligence service Mossad kidnapped a former Lebanese security guard in the last few days due to alleged connections with the disappearance of Israeli pilot Ron Arad.
A source told the Al Arabiya network that a group of individuals arrived in Lebanon two days before the operation, while some of them left the country the same day the kidnapping took place.
Ahmed Shukr, a retired captain in Lebanon’s General Security, was allegedly lured from the eastern Bekaa town of Nabi Sheet to Zhel, where he was then kidnapped.
Lebanese media reports that at least two Swedes, one of whom is of Lebanese origin, participated in the operation, and who entered the country via the Rafik Hariri International Airport.
Shukr’s brother is believed to have been linked to the Amal movement, which was involved in the 1986 shooting down of an Israeli airliner. Pilot Arad was captured after ejecting from the plane and has since disappeared.
