The Široki basketball players will play the last game of the regular part of the ABA 2 league season on Tuesday at home when MZT is their guest.
The home team enter this match after convincing victories away from Mladost in Mrkonjić Grad. Wide dominant the game in the domestic championship, but also in the ABA 2 league. Apart from the defeat in the first game of the season against Sutjeska, the club from Pečara has won every game so far.
Tomorrow’s opponent arrives from Skopje, and they are currently on tenth place on a ratio scale 4-3.
Their ratio it is not in accordance with their qualitybut it is simply a set of circumstances and this system of competition, which is as it is. The match will be anything but easy, that’s for sure. However, we will do our best to be at a satisfactory level in that mandatory part. We want to play one good, manly match and we will do everything to achieve victory on the home floor, said Široki coach Marijan Bagarić.
Široki with the defeat in the first round of the ABA 2 league, there is more only two defeats in the domestic championship the whole season.
We are in good shape, but what happened means nothing. Every day is a new proof, a new opportunity for victories or defeats, but we will do everything to make them victories, added Bagarić.
When it comes to the playing staff, the Širokobrijejan coach revealed that can count on all players. When asked if Široki can return to the ABA league, which the current results may indicate, Bagarić said:
I’ll spare you big predictions, that’s a long way off. We are certainly in the play-offs and that one we achieved the first goal. All 8, 9, 10 teams competing for that play-off have equal chances to reach the finaland then everything is possible.
With a win tomorrow, Siroki would secure the leading position in the rankings, but Siroki’s coach does not see that as a big advantage.
That first place compared to second or third brings possibly some advantage of the home field in the final, and that is very far. We have MZT in front of us tomorrow, that’s the most important thing, claims Bagarić.
Široki’s basketball player Miha Škedelj he is aware that expectations from Široki are always high, so a victory on the home field is always required.
I think that MZT, looking at the kind of team they have, lacked the luck to definitely advance. To them now means only victory against us to get in, so I think they’ll be “pumped up”. On the other hand, we are playing in front of our home crowd and a win means first place for us, which would ensure the best starting position for the play-offs. I expect a difficult, maybe a little nervous and fighting game. Every ball will count, said the Slovenian in Široki’s jersey.

Škedelj also commented on the chemistry in the team.
A lot of players left, some came, but I think we are stayed together and it shows on the field. The results say it all and just keep it up, added Škedelj.
The meeting is scheduled at GSD Pecara on TuesdayMarch 10, in 20 hours, and behind HKK Široki, they invite all fans to support them in the fight for first place.
