Australia has suspended the work of its embassy in Tehran due to the deterioration of the security environment in Iran and ordered the departure of all Australian officials, the Foreign Affairs Minister Penny Wong.
The Australian Ambassador to Iran will remain in the region to support the Government’s response to the crisis, Wong said.
“We continue to plan to support the Australians who want to leave Iran and we remain in close contact with other partner countries,” Wong added.
