In the first six months Audi generated a net profit of 1.35 billion euros, and supplied 794,000 vehicles, six percent less than last year

Audi is in serious financial problems. The German car manufacturer announced that he had been in the first half of 2025. It fell by 37.5 percent, and the reasoning American customs, expensive the cost of restructuring and sales in key markets, in China and the United States, writes DW.

In the first six months, Audi achieved a net profit of 1.35 billion euros, and supplied 794,000 vehicles, six percent less than last year. In addition to Audi, Bentley and Lamborghini are also in the group.

The company from Ingolstadt reduced the forecast of annual revenues by 2.5 billion euros, ranging between 65 and 70 billion euros. They expect weaker profitability, but still awaits how to affect the current EU and US Customs Agreement.

“Only us the increase in customs cost about 600 million euros in the first six months,” said the Financial Director of Jürgen Rittersberger. Unlike the BMW, Audi does not have a factory in the USA, and the cost of customs is not transferred to US customers. “It’s an expensive solution, but now we didn’t raise prices,” Rittersberger explained, adding that the company would look for a balance between the price and sales volume.

In addition to customs, another great cost is the announced restructuring of the company. This year, Audi announced that until 2029. He plans to abolish 7,500 jobs in Germany. In the first half of the year, that decision has already cost about 600m euros, although the “future agreement” has already begun to return part of the costs.

“The current results clearly show how much the transformation we have started,” Rittersberger said. “We’ll go a full speed forward.” The company plans the medium-term annual to save more than one billion euros.

The decline in sales in China and the US is especially worrying. Both markets are currently difficult for all car manufacturers, and in China, the electroautobil market is extremely competitive. Audi is trying there to break through with new models, but the results are not encouraged for now.
