In Madrid, the Atletico players defeated Barcelona 4-0 in the first semi-final test of the Spanish King’s Cup, taking a big step towards the final match.
Atletico played the first half in a trance in which they scored four goals, and they had so many more great opportunities.
It all started with a big mistake by Barcelona’s defense in the sixth minute, and Eric Garcia was the author of the own goal.
Already in the 14th minute Griezmann increased to 2-0, while in the 33rd, the home team performed a perfect action with many precise passes, and the Nigerian concluded everything with a goal for 3-0 Lookman.
This was not the end of despair for Barcelona, because Atletico scored the fourth goal in stoppage time of the first half, the scorer being Alvarez.
Immediately at the start of the second half, Barcelona reduced. In the 52nd minute, Cubarsi aimed for the home net, but after a VAR check, the goal was disallowed due to a millimeter in the backfield.
Barcelona was better in the continuation and tried to get a slightly better result before the return, but failed to do so.
In the 86th minute, Barcelona was left with ten men after Eric Garcia was sent off, and until the end the score did not change and the Atletico players could celebrate a great victory with their fans.
The second leg in Barcelona will be played on March 3.
On Wednesday, in the first semi-final match, Real Sociedad beat Athletic 1-0 in Bilbao.
The only goal was scored by Turrientes in the 62nd minute. The two Basque clubs will play the return match in San Sebastian on March 4.
