According to the available data, the budget will allocate a multimillion-dollar amount for these purposes in the coming period.
Namely, the public procurement plans of the Service for Joint Affairs of the Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Service for Joint Affairs of Bodies and Bodies of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Hospitality Service of the Government of the RS show that the collective spending of these institutions on food and beverages reaches almost 5.5 million convertible marks.
For example, the Service for Joint Affairs of BiH Institutions alone plans to allocate as much as 1,480,997 KM for these purposes in a period of two years. And while citizens monitor the rise in the prices of basic foodstuffs and reduce costs, the state apparatus apparently does not plan savings – on the contrary, luxury and comfort remain a priority.
Of particular concern is the fact that many local institutions do not have up-to-date data on their own spending – some have not published reports since 2015, which leaves room for doubt about the transparency and responsibility of spending public funds.
All these data, without a doubt, point to a wasteful and overblown state apparatus, one of the most massive in the world if the number of employees is taken into account in relation to the total population of the country. Instead of rationalization and reform of public administration, the government continues to show that the comfort of budget users is often put before the interests of the citizens who finance the system.
