Prime Minister of Zenica-Doboj Canton Nezir Pivić and Minister of Labour, Social Policy and Refugees Antonio Šimunović received the delegation of the “Our Sun” Association from Visoko, which included Lejla Smajević, Mirha Granov and Salem Ćosić.
The association “Naše sunce” gathers parents of children who are beneficiaries of the Day Center for Children with Special Needs in Visoko, which operates as part of the JU Center for Children and Adults with Special Needs of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, headed by director Ernad Metaj, who also attended the meeting.
The parents took the opportunity to thank Prime Minister Pivić and Minister Šimunović, as well as Director Metaj, for their unreserved support and strengthening of institutional care for children with special needs in this canton, stressing that in the past two years, the biggest step forward has been made since the Center was formed 10 years ago.
Prime Minister Pivic emphasized that the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton has no reservations when it comes to support and care for children with special needs, pointing out that the goal is to build a protection system that will not depend on the will of individuals at any level.
Minister Šimunović stated that the budget of the JU Center for children and adults with special needs has been increased from 1.5 to 2.5 million KM for two years, the development projects of this institution are supported, the conditions of children’s stay are improved, the institution is strengthened in terms of personnel, and the material position of the employees has also improved significantly, which best speaks of the attitude of the Government and the relevant ministry towards the Center.
Prime Minister Pivić and Minister Šimunović supported the parents’ initiative to establish a special dental practice for children with special needs in this canton.
