In the premises of the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the constituent session of the new convocation of the Board of Directors was held today.
The new management of the Institute was elected after a competition procedure, and members of the Board of Directors were appointed for a four-year term.
The constituent session was also attended by representatives of the Institute’s co-founders, namely Samira Krehić, head of the Western Balkans program of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) and Jasmin Handžić, head of the cabinet of the Minister for Human Rights and Refugees, and members of the Institute’s Board of Directors Cvija Jurković and Nihad Branković.
The session was presided over by the oldest member, Nikola Perišić, after which the leadership will be taken over by the next member according to the established rotation schedule. At the opening of the session, Perišić pointed out that the new convocation of the Board of Directors continues the humane mission of the Institute, whose goal is to find all missing persons in our country.
“The new convocation will do everything in its mandate to speed up the process of searching for missing persons so that the remaining victims we are still looking for are buried in a dignified manner and so that their families find final peace,” said Perišić.
All the guests present at the session wished this collegium good luck and success in their work, and Samira Krehić pointed out that she sees in the new collegium an ideal opportunity to implement key processes in the process of finding the missing. She emphasized that the combination of data analysis and operational experience of the new members, along with the knowledge of the situation and priorities brought by the old member of the College, represents the right direction for this process.
“Even though there are challenges, I believe that we will work together with dedication for all the families of the missing who have been waiting for truth and justice for so long,” said Krehić.
The board of directors manages the Institute, represents and represents it, and is responsible for the legality of work and the implementation of the decisions of the Board of Directors, he writes Klix.ba
