Antonelli celebrated in Monaco after chaos and interruptions due to track damage

The young Italian, who started the race from pole position, maintained his lead from start to finish and thus continued his impressive winning streak. Antonelli celebrated ahead of Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton, while third place was won by Isack Hadjar.

The race was marked by a series of incidents and an interruption in the 68th lap after the asphalt on the track was damaged. Just before the break, Charles Leclerc hit the protective wall, after which the red flags were displayed and the race was stopped for more than 30 minutes.

After the resumption of the competition, there was a restart from the pit lane, and Antonelli managed to keep the leading position and bring the race to the end without major problems.

A large number of drivers did not finish the race. Among those who dropped out were Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc, Lance Stroll, Lando Norris, Oliver Bearman, Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen.

A particular disappointment was experienced by McLaren, for whom this was the 1,000th. race in Formula 1, and current world champion Lando Norris withdrew due to mechanical problems.

After the restart of the race, a new incident was seen when George Russell, after overtaking Hadjar, slowed down the column of drivers, which led to a collision in which Sainz ended the race. Pierre Gasly and Hadjar made the most of the situation, who worked his way up to third place after Russell went to serve his penalty.

With the victory, Antonelli further strengthened his leading position in the drivers’ standings and confirmed his excellent form in the season so far.
