Egypt saw an unusual political protest when opposition politicians publicly expressed their dissatisfaction with the quality of recently built roads. In order to point out, according to their claims, the poor performance of the works, they started tearing up the newly installed asphalt surface with their bare hands.
This act, performed in front of the gathered citizens, was intended to symbolically show that the material used in road construction, according to their claims, is not high-quality asphalt, but cheap and inadequate material. Politicians ironically claimed that it was not a standard road surface, but “goat excrement”.
