Vukovar will play one of the key matches against Varaždin today at 18:00 in the fight to stay in SuperSport HNL, but at the end of the season they will be without Alen Jurilj.
Experienced 30-year-old offensive player he left the club after a conflict with the coach Tomislav Stipić and will not compete for the match against Varaždin, as well as for the last round against Hajduk.
Jurilj, according to available information, was dissatisfied with the minutes since Stipić took over the team in March. During that period, he was never in the starting line-up, which eventually led to an argument and his departure from the club.
The last time he played from the first minute was on March 8 in the defeat of Vukovar against Rijeka (1:0) in the 25th round at the City Garden. After that, he mostly came off the bench, while against Rijeka in the 34th round he was not even among the registered players. Under the guidance of Stipić, he enrolled a total of 55 minutes through seven performances.
Jurilj is not the first experienced player to leave Vukovar after a disagreement with the coach. Previously, he left for similar reasons Mario Tičinovićwhile Josip Elez left the club in a more peaceful way.
Jurilj arrived in Vukovar last October at the initiative of his former coach Silvija Čabraje. He arrived after his contract with Zrinjski expired and made 20 appearances, two goals and an assist for Vukovar. He collected 1204 minutes in SuperSport HNL this season. In his career he was also a member of NK Zagreb, Dinamo, Kustošija, Široki Brijeg, Domžal and Borca from Banja Luka.
